Dr. Sriram K

Dr. Sriram K is Professor in the Department of Urology at Sri Ramachandra Medical College in Chennai. His specialist qualifications include an MS in General Surgery, an MCh in Urology and a DNB in Urology. Dr. Sriram excelled in academics and was the National Topper and Gold Medallist in the DNB (Urology) final examination of the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi, in 2005. Dr. Sriram's special interests are Reconstructive Urology, Redo Urethroplasties and Renal transplantation. He has over 11 years of experience in the field of Urology.

After completing his MS in General Surgery from Thanjavur Medical College, Dr. Sriram served as Medical Officer in the Urology Department of SB Hospital in Thanjavur from May 2000 for a year. SB Hospital is a 40-bed Urology & Nephrology and Fertility Research Centre hospital offering renal replacement therapy and extra-corporeal shock wave lithotripsy, renal transplantation and laser-assisted endourological procedures.

Dr. Sriram took up the post of PG Tutor in the Department of Urology at Christian Medical College Hospital (CMCH), Vellore from March 2005 to June 2007.  The Urology department at CMC is rated as one of the best Urology centres in the country. Dr. Sriram assumed the post of Assistant Professor in July 2007 and stayed on at CMC until February 2009.

In March 2009, Dr. Sriram joined Sri Ramachandra Medical College in Chennai as Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology. The Department of Urology and Renal Transplantation of Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute is an ISO 9001:2000 certified department. This is one of the few Urology departments in the country that has this distinction. Since its inception in 1995, it has followed a path of continued growth in both clinical and academic Urology work, being one of the centres doing large volumes of live related and cadaver renal transplants in India. Dr. Sriram was promoted to Associate Professor in January 2010 and Additional Professor in June 2013 at SRMC before he assumed his current post of Professor in May 2015.

Dr. Sriram K has over 25 articles to his name in national and international journals, several of which are peer-reviewed and/or PubMed indexed. These include 15 case reports and four original articles. He has also contributed three chapters to a textbook on Nephrology. Dr. Sriram is a Peer Reviewer for several medical journals and is on the Editorial Board for the South Asian Journal of Nephrology, Urology & Transplantation, and the Austin Journal of Urology (USA).
